Travel Updates

We are have been rescheduled to travel on New Year's Eve...however, if the Letter of Invitation doesn't come in the next day or so, we will have to reschedule for the first week of January.

December 28

We canceled our reservations for the New Year's Eve flight and rescheduled for January 9. Fingers crossed.

January 8, 2005

Appears we aren't going to make the flights on the 9th either. Because of the holidays, it is possible that the Ministry of Education has been closed, or at least operating sporatically for the last couple of weeks. It is supposed to open on Monday, perhaps the loi will come the first of next week...

January 11, 2005

We have our letter of invitation! Alla called last night at 11:15 to give us the good news! We are very excited...overnighted our information to Visa Obtainers, Inc in Washington DC to try get our visa in three days so that we can leave Friday, January 14.

January 14, 2005

We leave today for Kazakstan! We journey from Knoxville, to Chicago, to London, to Amaty, Kaz and then to Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan. We arrive in Ust Sunday night.

November 1, 2006

Our dossier is in Kazakhstan, we are just waiting for approval. Projected travel time is anywhere from the middle of December to the end of January.

December 6, 2006

We received word that our LOI would be coming any day and to prepare to travel. December 25 is the first day that there is a drop in airfare...so we are considering that day.

December 13, 2006

Latest word is that the coordinators in Kazakhstan can't take us until the 10th of January...since that is in the middle of the week, we are going to ask about arriving on January 7.

We have tentative flight plans, leaving January 3...our coordinator seems to think this will work.

We received our loi tonight, will send for visas in the morning...and still planning to leave on Jan. 3.

January 4, 2006

There was a snafu at the Kaz embassy, so we are now leaving Sunday, Jan. 7 at 2:30 pm. We are flying United to DC and Lufthansa to Frankfurt, Germany; Frankfurt to Astana, Kaz. We will fly Air Astana from Astana to Kostanai, Kaz. We will arrive on Tuesday afternoon and hope to begin visitation on Wednesday.
