Day 11, 12 & 13

Saturday, Day 11
Last night we ate dinner at a German themed restaurant called "Bavaria". It was a micro-brewery, complete with large wooden beams, German decor, copper brewing kettle and a giant television screen playing American videos. and of course, we had spaghetti. :) It was served with a pesto sauce and lots of garlic. Interestingly, we ran into another American couple that we met a couple nights before when we ate at the Russian Pub. We found out that they are from the Milwaukee, WI area. We exchanged information and hope to meet for dinner soon.
This morning, we made the hike to the open air market which was an amazing experience. Anything that you would ever want to buy was available amongst the snow and ice, in this outdoor bazaar. We purchased some more toys for visiting the boarding school and will certainly head back that way when we are low in supplies. As long as the weather is bearable, the prices are certainly the lowest in town. CDs, DVDS, toys, every leather boot imaginable, clothing, food and even furniture were available for purchase.
We had our normal vist today at the boarding school. The girls played outside in the snow most of the time. The girls also played with balloons, after coming in out of the cold. They seem to be really enjoying each other's company.

Sunday, Day 12
Kevin says "Same routine, different day. No visit to the boarding school, nothing to report."
Hence the self-portrait... :)
Today we reached the point of major boredom. All games have been played with, several books have been read, we've walked around town numerous times and tired of watching movies. We did buy a deck of cards and some toy furniture for Barbie at the market yesterday, but today we have grown tired of those. It is hard to live life in a hotel room... I can't believe that I am saying this, but looking forward to starting school again tomorrow.
Keep those emails coming! We appreciate any contact from home!

Monday, Day 13
We are back to our regular schedule today of breakfast, home schooling, lunch of bread & cheese in our room, and boarding school visitation.
Upon arriving at the boarding school, we discovered that Luba had cried for us over the weekend--she missed her new family. Luda also missed her very much and shed a very tears of her own, feeling the absence of her new found friend when we didn't visit on Sunday afternoon.
Today's visit was cut a little short because it was bath day for the group. We visited with Luda in the library until she had to scurry to the showers. Prior to that, the girls played a game of Concentration with a deck cards while Kevin looked at Russian books on World War II. When the girls switched to drawing with pencils, Stacey took a turn at the books. It is very interesting to read these books that document such an important time in the history of the world, and that are such a different perspective than our own.
After returning to the hotel room, we spent some time reading. Kevin and Luda then played a game of Crazy 8's and Stacey went for a walk with a grocery list and camera in hand. The photos from today are from that walk.
